Chassis BR01 — the development of SMP Racing, which debuted this summer on the race «24 Hours of Le Mans.» However, the team had to face a lot of difficulties to make the project feasible.
The problems were related to the supply of spare parts due to the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation. As a result, I had to withdraw from the World Championships in endurance racing (WEC), stopping only at the Le Mans Series (ELMS). International Automobile Federation and the organizer of the world championship on races on endurance and marathon «24 hours of Le Mans» ACO rushed to publish a list of companies, who in 2017 will be eligible for the creation and delivery teams to the chassis class LMP2. Russian company «BR Engineering», which belongs to the owner of a racing team SMP Racing Boris Rotenberg, was not there.
Accordingly, they will have to participate in the LMP2 chassis to use the built Dallara, ORECA, Onroak Automotive, Riley Technologies and Multimatic Motorsports.
In addition to the SMP, the team remained without a license from Honda Performance Development, Ginetta Cars and Wolf.
