As reported by Car & Driver, McLaren wants to make their stock sports car P13 more practical. Well of course, this “conqueror of racing tracks” might never become a family sedan or a station wagon, however, it does lack at least some utility.
The designers and engineers of the company has come to this conclusion and here is the result. A potential rival of Porsche 911 is scheduled to come to market in 2016. This is when the company also plans to introduce the P13 GT version fitted with a roomy luggage compartment. Overall, McLaren plans to offer three body types: a coupé, a convertible, and a Gran Turismo.
The most spacious GT version with the biggest carrying capacity is expected to become a bestseller. Representatives of the company say that this model resembles a classic Jaguar E-Type.
Technical specifications of the stock P13 model have already been revealed. It features a carbon fibre monocoque used in the more expensive 650S sports car, 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 450–500 hp.
