For the reason that during the qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix drivers were not able to complete the finish lap due to Nico Rosberg’s mistake and crash, there might come some changes in the regulations.
Nobody knows how it all could have turned out if it weren’t for the yellow flags on the track. Hamilton could have demonstrated a better lap time than Rosberg. In order to avoid any similar “traps” for the pilots in the future, an amendment might be introduced in the F1 regulations.
It was reported by FIA Technical Delegate to Formula One Charlie Whiting in his interview to Auto Motor und Sport. He suggested extending qualifying at least by one minute when a yellow flag is shown in the last three minutes. However, in order to make this amendment, all teams must give their endorsement, and let’s not forget about tonnes of paperwork to do.
