Hardly had the mass media digested the news about a SUV ready to be launched by the manufacturer of high-status limousines, when Giles Taylor, the design director of Rolls-Royce, announced about the company’s plans to develop second-generation Phantom flagship sedan.

As reported by Autocar, Taylor shared a few details about the new vehicle. The car’s exterior is not going to change a lot, as traditions come first for Rolls Royce. However, its rear pillar will be hiding the passengers behind. Phantom will get a redesigned radiator grille, new headlights, and air intakes.

The all-new Phantom will be fitted with traditional petrol-powered V12 engine. According to motor.ru, after the fiasco of the electric Phantom 102EX, it is unlikely that the company will take a chance of creating another electric car. There is no word regarding the technical specs of the premiere yet, but first-generation Phantom is equipped with 460-hp 6.75-litre engine coupled with eight-speed automatic transmission.

Construction of the second-generation Phantom assumes using carbon fibre and, probably, its entire body will be made of it.

Its price hasn’t been calculated yet, but the premiere is not expected to be cheap, as the current price of the Phantom is 24,003,000 RUB (approx.€506,600), while its elongated version costs 29,275,000 RUB (approx.€617,900).
