McLaren has plans to create a track version of the hybrid supercar P1. It will be a limited edition available only to the current owners of the P1.
Each owner of the supercar’s standard version received a letter with a question, an answer to which should determine the fate of the track-only P1. So here’s the question: do you want to buy a track-only version of the supercar? All in all, there were 375 letters sent.
The owners take their time with the answers. And there is something to think over as the standard P1 is already fitted with hybrid powerplant delivering 916 hp. The coupé sprints to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, to 200 km/h in 6.8 seconds, and it takes it just 16.5 seconds to accelerate to 300 km/h. However, you will not be able to go faster than 350 km/h as the top speed is electronically limited in order to avoid flying into space.
If the company collects enough of affirmative answers from the owners of P1, there will appear a more powerful, faster, and lighter P1, which will be brought to the track on demand. Anyway, they will be meant for use on track only.
