Mercedes plans to launch production of a vehicle which is going to replace the brand’s flagship, making the S-Class lose its place in the sun. And the name of it will be Mercedes U-Class. Quite recently a student from California's Art Center College of Design suggested its vision of a Mercedes-Benz called the U-Class (for the German word “üppig”, which means “luxurious” and “lavish”). Was it this student who inspired the company to create such an ambitious project?
There are not many facts so far. The premiere is expected to be fitted with a 6.0-litre 12-cylinder twin-turbo engine and it will definitely feature a rear-wheel drive layout. What concerns the size of the car, it is assumed to be bigger than the S-Class. This car is designed to provide comfort for all its passengers.
Is it the continuation of the recently-announced rebirth of the prestigious marque Maybach? In any case, the premiere should pit against Rolls-Royce and Bentley. According to Autonews.ru, the price of the U-Class will start at $150,000. Luxury for the lavish. However, it is still unknown when this project is going to take shape.
