Porsche decided to create one more modification of Cayenne and this time it will be a coupé-like crossover. It is expected to occupy the same niche as BMW X6, Mercedes-Benz MLC, and Range Rover Sport by the year 2018.
According to Autocar, the premiere will have a sportier character and will be fitted with petrol and diesel engines, also featuring hybrid modifications, which are impossible to do without nowadays. Porsche Cayenne Coupé will be built on the new MLB platform, which is now being developed by Audi. Overall, six crossovers will be using this platform.
As reported by auto.vesti.ru, the idea of the new Cayenne has been cherished by the company for quite a long time already, but Porsche was not setting this idea afloat due to great demand for the regular Cayenne. Moreover, the factory in Leipzig does not have enough space for that. However, new technologies keep forging ahead making the engineers and marketing experts work up a sweat. Sure enough, the price of the premiere will be 15–20 per cent higher.
