Nissan Murano from Mississippi

New Nissan Murano crossover will have its debut at the New York Motor Show and will go on sale by the end of this year. 2015 Murano, like its predecessor, is equipped with 3.5-litre V6 engine producing 260 hp. But as stated by the manufacturer, from now on its fuel economy is expected to be improved by 20 per cent (with Xtronic transmission). The crossover will be available both in front-wheel and all-wheel drive layouts.

Nissan Executive Vice President Andy Palmer made a very ambitious statement: “At Nissan, we create concept vehicles with an eye toward production. Likely few people who saw Resonance in its North American International Auto Show debut imagined that we could build such a futuristic design. But here it is, ready to hit Nissan showrooms less than 24 months later”.

According to official information, Murano’s aerodynamics was improved to reach the level of sports cars. Futuristic design did not affect the car’s interior which features plainness of style. For instance, the amount of various switches and buttons was reduced by 60 per cent — from 25 to 10. Engineers decided that there was no need in making the life of drivers even more complicated than it is now and made everything utterly simple so that the drivers don’t have to reach for the manual too often.

From now on new options are available — dual-zone automatic climate control and Nissan Intelligent Key with push-button starting, heated leather seats, heated steering wheel, and memory for the driver’s settings of the steering wheel, driver’s seat and rear-view mirrors. The customers can opt for panoramic sunroof which has become 40 per cent longer and 29 per cent larger in comparison with its predecessor. So you will have fun admiring the clouds while standing in traffic jams. The most important thing would be to reach your destination before the stars start appearing in the sky.

By the way, the crossover is equipped with four onboard cameras (front, rear and side) and three radar sensors (one in the front and two in the rear) which inform various electronic assistance systems about the situation outside the car. This includes Blind Spot Warning, Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Forward Emergency Braking, and Intelligent Cruise Control.

The new crossover will be manufactured at Nissan's Mississippi plant.
