Representatives of the German car magazine AutoBild published the results of interesting performance tests of the upgraded German sports coupés. The first contestant is Audi R8 V10 customised by the SKN tuning studio. The R8 engine was fitted with a supercharger and the exhaust and cooling systems went through various changes. The car’s maximum power increased up to 806 hp and 823 Nm of torque. The second contestant is BMW M6 F13 with 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine under its bonnet. The experts from the Manhart Racing tuning studio uprated the engine up to 734 hp and 889 Nm of torque. The BMW also went through changes in both intake and exhaust systems and was subject to modifications in its engine control unit. The third contestant is Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG which was customised by Brabus. Full-scale tuning works included an increase of engine capacity to 5.9 litres, implementation of upgraded turbochargers, modification of exhaust system, reprogramming of engine control unit and also changes in cooling system. These manipulations helped to increase the maximum power of the car up to 850 hp and 1,150 Nm of torque. With the power like that the SL63 had a strong lead in terms of acceleration performance — it was able to demonstrate best results in 0 to 300 km/h acceleration and best 1 km time. Second place was taken by Audi R8. Due to its smaller weight and bigger power in comparison with the BMW M6, the R8 was better in 1 km sprint and in acceleration to 300 km/h.
