So much for fighting against hybrids — from now on Bentley can be plugged in as well. The company will reveal its first hybrid at the Beijing Motor Show. It is going to be a prototype of the Mulsanne sedan fitted with hybrid powerplant based on eight-cylinder twin-turbo 6.75-litre engine. By the way, the production sedan delivers 505 hp.
It will be able to cover the distance of 50 km powered by electricity only and the battery can be charged using a simple wall socket. What concerns the electric motor, it will work together with the combustion engine for better performance characteristics.
The ecological issues were not forgotten either as the hybrid powerplant should increase the horsepower by 25% while at the same time slashing CO2 emissions by 70%. Everyone should be happy now and the beavers can continue building their dams.
According to motor.ru, new technologies ready to go on production lines in the nearest future will be revealed at the major Chinese motor show. Bentley’s premiere to use all technical innovations will be the SUV which has been announced several times already. It is due to go into production in 2017.
