There are new entries in the list of premiers of the New York Auto Show. BMW brings its M4 sports coupé with a folding roof. It drops in just 20 seconds at the speed under 18 km/h.
No additional innovative technologies, the car will be equipped just like the coupé. It will also be fitted with the turbocharged V6 engine however less powerful than that of a 431-hp coupé. The car with manual transmission sprints to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds while the one featuring the automatic gearbox will do it in 4.4 seconds. The unfolding roof adds 0.3 seconds during the acceleration while the car’s top speed is still 250 km/h. Neck warmers are now available for the driver and passenger and the car might be fitted with a windblock. The customers can opt for the adaptive suspension with three levels of adjustment and carbon ceramic brakes with gold-painted callipers.
Boot capacity with the roof up is 370 litres but is limited to 220 litres with the roof dropped. Interesting to know is that when the roof is lifted just a bit, it gives the owner access to his belongings in the boot. The sports coupé will offer other options which are common for the convertibles. The standard trim will include 18-inch wheels but it’s possible to opt for 19-inch wheels as well.
The premiere will go on sale in the United States in summer, in autumn it will arrive in Europe, but there is no information when the sales will be launched in Russia. It is unlikely to be a hot topic in winter.
