Official statement made by the organizing committee of the Unlim 500+ festival in connection with the accident which took place during the show-races held on Dmitrovsky practice ground on September 15, 2013.
In connection with the accident, which took place on September 15, 2013, the organizing committee of the Unlim 500+ festival considers it necessary to declare the following:
1. The driver of Nissan GT-R with the side number 31 passed the medical examination after the accident, the results of which stated that no damage had been caused to the driver’s health.
2. The accident happened during the show-races which were organized at request of the participants and spectators. The participants had been warned about the danger caused by weather conditions, understood the risks and agreed to take all necessary precautions while driving on the wet surface.
3. All races were secured according to all safety requirements and were held in the presence of fire fighting vehicles, ambulances and quick reaction rescue vehicles. There were marshals equipped with fire-extinguishers on all necessary track spots.
4. The organizers consider this accident to serve as a precedent for Unlim 500+ festival security upgrade. List of measures and changes in the events’ procedure will be announced in the near future.
5. As accompanying preventing measure it is suggested to reduce the track length from 1 mile (1600 m) to 1 kilometre (1000 m) starting from 2014.
6. Unlim 500+ festival is not a sports event and sports event rules do not apply to it.
