Alfa Romeo 4C was chosen as the safety car of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). As reported on the official site of the racing series, the most beautiful car of 2013 will take on this role in the championship 2014.
The WTCC chiefs have chosen the Alfa Romeo 4C not only because of its beauty. According to the representative of Eurosport Events, the company which conducts the competitions, it wasn’t that simple. This choice might bring closer the moment when the brand returns to the touring series. Indeed, Alfa Romeo hasn't been present on the WTCC grid since 2007 when it took fourth place in the Constructors' Championship.
Alfa Romeo 4C sports car was unveiled back in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show; its price is €60,000. The sports coupé is equipped with a 1.75-litre petrol four-cylinder turbocharged engine with direct injection which delivers 240 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It features a dual-clutch semi-automatic six-speed gearbox. The car sprints to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and its top speed is 250 km/h.
Well then, the sports car is already going to be on the track on April 13 at the Morocco Grand Prix. Welcome back, Alfa Romeo!
