In 2015 Nissan plans to start producing an 800-hp GT-R fitted with a hybrid powertrain. The hybrid GT-R is assumed to be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. ¼ mile (“quarter mile”) — the favourite distance of drag racers — will be covered in 10 seconds with 340 km/h of top speed.
According to 7Tune with the reference to Japanese sources, GT-R is equipped with a 3.8-litre 6-cylinder twin-turbocharged engine producing 580 hp. Another 250 hp will be delivered by the electric motor and the kinetic energy recovery system developed by the engineers from Nismo and Williams F1 Team.
The model will enter the market only in 2016. The price tag of the new car is expected to be between $120,000 and $150,000.
