Morgan Motors, the British sports car manufacturer, is notable for the famous retro design of its coupés and roadsters. In a few days at the Geneva Motor Show the company is going to reveal one of its most ‘wicked’ models — Morgan Plus 4.

The Plus 4 model has experienced several reincarnations. The two-seat four-cylinder roadster with soft top went into production in 1950. And it was rolling off the production line for 20 years. The model went into the line again back in 1985. Its current generation appeared two decades later.

From the technical point of view, Morgan Plus 4 is a ‘self-made’ vehicle assembled from units produced by other famous companies. Plus 4 is fitted with a two-litre naturally-aspirated Duratec engine produced by Ford which delivers 145 hp; its five-speed manual transmission is supplied by Mazda. With such configurations and the weight of 870 kg this roadster makes the 0–100 km/h sprint in 7.5 sec.

According to Morgan Motors’ representatives, they are going to unveil the most powerful modification of the model in its entire history at the Geneva Motor Show. What concerns its technical specifications, the British manufacturers promised to go into detail during the premiere of the new car.

Morgan’s model range comprises vehicles with much more powerful engines than the above mentioned powertrain produced by Ford. For example, Morgan Aero Supersports fitted with an 8-cylinder 4.8-litre BMW engine delivering 370 hp is able to accelerate up to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

It’s interesting to know whether the British engineers are able to fire up Ford’s engine. Fortunately, there is less than a week to go.
