Not by asphalt alone

Toyota's own tuning division Toyota Racing Development (TRD) decided to broaden its scope of activity by customising not only sports cars but also creating radical versions of trucks and pickups. More specifically the TRD Pro Series tuning will be applied to 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra. As stated by the studio’s representatives, these models are intended for off-road car enthusiasts.

It is noted that Pro Series models will be themed on off-road vehicles which used to take part in cross country rallies and demonstrated (or were close to demonstrating) some great achievements. Upgrades will comprise Bilstein high-performance shocks with remote fluid reservoirs, new own-produced TRD springs, custom exhaust system, increased clearance kit, wheel disks and new exterior and interior elements. Tundra Pickup will get the top tuning package.

The cars go on sale only on the US territory so far. The most notable competitors of the Japanese cars in the North American market will be Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and Dodge RAM Runner Kit.
