Development of modern technologies evolves so fast that sometimes it is difficult to find out whether the reality is real or virtual. And whether it’s reality... It looks like Mercedes decided to finally knock out (in a good way) the admirers of its sports cars. A few months ago, at the Los Angeles Motor Show, Mercedes revealed its Mercedes AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept to the virtual world. And now came the turn of a lighter and more powerful version with the “Racing Series” added to its name.
Changes affected the outline of the virtual supercar which is equipped with a 5.5-litre V8 producing 591 hp and seven-speed double-clutch transmission. The weight of the supercar was reduced to 1150 kg which is 85 kg lighter than the recent concept.
Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is available in the list of cars of the Gran Turismo 6 game and one can choose it to drive on the virtual racing tracks.
Though the real Vision Gran Turismo also looks rather fantastic, it will still go into production. However, it will be produced by “foster parents”. Mercedes will not be directly related to the manufacturing of the AMG Vision. J&S World Wide Holdings expressed its interest in producing this model. All in all, only 5 units will roll off the production line — two of them will be delivered to Europe, one to the USA and two more to the Middle East.
The fantastic vehicle will be based on Mercedes SLS AMG GT. The commercial AMG Vision will inherit its powerplant featuring a 6.3-litre V8 producing 591 hp. An SLS equipped with such engine is able to accelerate up to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. It is expected that Vision Gran Turismo will have similar performance.
What about the price? While the commercial SLS AMG GT has a price tag of $200,000, AMG Vision will cost $1.5 million. However, it will hardly keep the manufacturer from selling the entire series. One of the future vehicles has already been sold.
