List of premieres of the upcoming Geneva Motor Show starts “leaking out” from the headquarters of world giants. Audi, the famous “lord of the rings”, decided to build “hot” versions of all of its cars. Our eyes have already accustomed to S8 and S6 modifications, but this time the German manufacturers promise to bring to Geneva a new version of their small model with the S1 name.
There are no prizes for guessing that Audi S1 is a “loaded” version of the tiny Audi A1, the sales of which started in Europe in August 2010. Two years later, in 2012 in Ingolstadt the company offered two modifications: a five-door Audi A1 version and A1 Quattro special edition. However, the all-wheel drive series was limited to only 333 cars. In 2013 a few more versions with “limited” and “special” prefixes joined the A1 series. And now it’s the turn for the Audi S1.
There is no official information regarding the “hot babe” so far. Some mass media state with reference to insider information that Audi S1 will be provided in two body versions — 3-door and 5-door; two powertrain versions — 2- and 4-cylinder turbo engines producing 230 hp; S-tronic robotized transmission and all-wheel drive quattro system.
It’s highly probable that the “loaded” S1 will traditionally receive a sportier and more aggressive aerodynamic body kit.
The new Audi S1 should go on sale right after the motor show in Geneva. We will find out whether the legendary VW Golf GTI should be in fear and trembling when Audi reveals the specifications of the new car.
