Open, Oh SinSin!

At the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed (England) the German company Sin Cars and their local partners from ProFormance Metals revealed Sin R1 racing sports car. There’s no doubt that this “power unit” could only catch the interest of track-days enthusiasts who have a passion for driving fast on a racing track behind the wheel of a specially designed car. Nevertheless, the car was upgraded and made street-legal. This is how Sin R1 received its “civil” version.

What is Sin R1? It is built around tubular spaceframe chassis with composite body panels. A powerful 525-hp 8-cylinder 6.2-litre Chevrolet Corvette engine lies in front of the rear axle. It is fitted with a Graziano 6-speed manual gearbox. The sports car’s weight is 1100 kg (+100 kg to the track version).

It accelerates up to 100 km/h in 3 seconds. Its top speed is 320 km/h. It comes with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 265/35 R19 at the front and 325/30 R19 at the back. It features 362-mm disc brakes from AP Racing. Pedal box is produced by the same company. The car is fitted with General Motors electric power steering

Sin R1 is a typical low volume sports car created by a group of enthusiasts for other enthusiasts. The vehicle costs £60,000 GBP ($98,850 USD) in Great Britain. Taking into consideration its single-piece assembly and specifications this might seem like a rather reasonable price. Though there are quite a lot of such cars in England. And even in Germany Sin R1 will hardly generate lots of buzz though the carmaker is based in Munich. Cars like these should have “genealogy” (preferably in sports racing) in order to catch the interest of car enthusiasts. And frankly speaking, Sin R1 currently lacks any achievements of such type.

Sales of street-legal Sin R1 version will start in spring but it’s possible to order it at Sin Cars any time now.
