Volvo President & CEO, Håkan Samuelsson, said that the company’s luxury sedan would be manufactured at the Daqing plant in China. Apparently, it refers to the S90, intended to replace the S80 model.
“Daqing will become an integral part of our global industrial footprint. We are pleased to announce that we are going to introduce SPA and a new sedan here,” Samuelsson said in a statement.
The company’s CEO did not specify which sedan he was talking about, as the S90 has not been officially confirmed so far.
The SPA platform will reportedly underpin three model families — 40, 60 and 90. The cars will feature various body styles, including sedans, hatchbacks, wagons, crossovers and SUVs.
