Mazda has ruled out rotary engines. The company’s CEO Masamichi Kogai said that when the engineers are busy working on rotary engines, they don’t have enough time for enhancing mainstream technology.
According to earlier speculations, the company was developing a new rotary-powered sports car, which was supposed to arrive in 2020. However, Masamichi Kogai made a rather clear statement that the company’s plans do not include the new Mazda RX.
Nevertheless, marque’s fans hope that Mazda might still produce at least a limited edition of rotary-powered vehicles to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first rotary Mazda Cosmo Sport 110S, though, nothing is official so far.
