The sports version of the coupé-style BMW X2 crossover is due to arrive in 2017. Quite recently, the company has registered the “X2 Sport” trademark, which is obviously going to belong to the new model.
The vehicle carrying the “Sport” badge is likely to be a three-door variant. The standard X2 will be offered both in three- and five-door body styles. It is expected to be based on the ULK1 platform, which will also underpin the MINI and BMW 2-Series Active Tourer.
The model will be offered in front-wheel drive guise, with all-wheel drive available as an option. The X2 will be fitted with 3- and 4-cylinder diesel- and petrol-powered engines. The top-of-the-range version will boast of at least 300 hp.
