Nissan’s chief creative officer Shiro Nakamura has officially confirmed that the company is developing a facelift for the GT-R. The upgraded model will feature a more aggressive design, though the most prominent features of its appearance will still be preserved. Its debut is scheduled for early 2015.
However, the first shots of the camouflaged sports car wearing modified front bumper and radiator grille appeared on the Internet way ahead of the official statement made by Shiro Nakamura. One of the speculations suggested that it was the new-generation Nissan GT-R fitted with a hybrid powertrain used in the GT-R LM Nismo concept. It includes a 3.8-litre petrol-powered engine delivering 580 hp and an electric motor.
However, the company’s officials have put all the speculations to dust by saying that the hybrid GT-R will arrive no earlier than 2017 and, in the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for exterior modifications.
