Tesla Motors considers a wagon and a new crossover.
Obviously, there are good reasons why a huge Tesla plant was built in Nevada, as the company is coming up with more and more new models. The Model X, the first crossover SUV, is due to arrive in the nearest future. After that, the company will pass on to building a wagon and a more compact crossover.
It is reported that the Model III, which is due to arrive in 2016, will become Tesla’s most affordable all-electric model. Chris Porritt, Tesla's Vice President of Engineering, says that he wants to attract even those customers who have not started considering a switch to electric cars yet. To bring this idea to life, the company will have to produce new models, though it was decided to build them based on the Model III platform with a view to economy. As a reminder, Tesla’s goal is to reach a 200,000 vehicle annual production rate.
