Renault with a GT-R engine to hit the track

The Renault Sport R.S. 01 will have its racing debut at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

The Renault Sport R.S. 01 will have its racing debut at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.

The new model was revealed at the Moscow Motor Show in August. It was built to compete in the World Series by Renault and Renaultsport Trophy, which is a one-make championship part of the World Series.

There will be two categories in the Renaultsport Trophy — Pro and Am. Pro category winners of the Renaultsport Trophy will receive a rookie test with Nismo's Super GT team in Japan, while the winners in Am category will test Nismo’s Le Mans LMP2 prototype.

The Renault Sport R.S. 01 race car is fitted with a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged engine delivering 500 hp mated to a Sadev seven-speed sequential transmission.

Engine setup was performed by the experts from Nismo division. The car will hit a top speed of more than 300 km/h. It weighs around 1,100 kg.


The Renault Sport R.S. 01 complies with all safety rules specific to endurance races and respects FIA LMP1 standards. The price of the race car is set at €355,000.
