As soon as the Porsche 911 gets a facelift, almost all its versions will be fitted with turbocharged engines.
It is time for the new era of cars. A report released by CAR says that the facelifted Porsche 911 will come with a 2.9-litre turbocharged powertrain delivering 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque. It used to carry a 3.4-litre flat-six naturally aspirated engine.
As for the Porsche Carrera S, it will still have a 3.8-litre engine, however, a turbocharger will beef its output up from 400 hp and 440 Nm to 530 hp and 705 Nm. The Porsche 911 GT3 will remain the only version fitted with a normally aspirated engine.
These measures are taken to improve fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. The cars’ reliability is not likely to hover at the same level; however, the decision has already been taken.
