Buy the not-yet-existing

Ferrari has sold out its new model before even releasing its photos. Which actually comes as no surprise. Only 10 units of the F60 America roadsters will roll off the company’s production lines. Each of them will cost over $3 million. Sure enough, something that exclusive has been sold out just at the moment of its announcement.

Ferrari’s marketing experts have chosen a promising badge for the exclusive new model. Scuderia’s flagship supercars used to wear the F40 and F50 badges. Although, de facto the F60 is a moderately modified version of the F12 berlinetta. The engineers have changed its body style — the F60 is an open-top roadster, while its “donor”, the F12 berlinetta, is a coupé. Both the front and the rear parts of the body have been modified.

The F60 is meant to mark the 60th anniversary of Ferrari sales in the U.S. market. This is where the “America” part joins in. The same reason stands behind painting all 10 units using one colour scheme — it is the classic North American Racing Team livery. By the way, back in the 1960s, the company produced a limited edition of the 275 model also to pay homage to the team.

The technical characteristics of the F12 berlinetta remained untouched. The F60 America carries a V-shaped 12-cylinder 6.2-litre engine delivering nearly 740 hp. It sprints to 100 km/h in 3 seconds.
