Ford has decided to revive the GT supercar and return to endurance racing. Previous Ford GT40 was powered by an aluminum 5.4L V8 engine with an Eaton supercharger. Its output was 550 horsepower and 677 Nm. But they are no longer produced since 2007.
Ford representatives will make an official announce about the new GT supercar only in January of 2015. Meanwhile they attended a meeting of WEC constructors, which took place during the American stage of the Championship.
Approximate year of first start of the new GT is 2016, the year of 50th anniversary of the Ford GT40 Mk II victory in France. All technical details are confidential.
