In 2019, Mercedes-Benz plans to start production of a more compact front-wheel drive version of the Geländewagen.

Together with becoming more comfortable, the revised Geländewagen should also provide a better handling. A fact worth mentioning is that the new model will be available as a seven-seater only.

It will be based on the second-generation MFA platform and wear a GLB badge.

The compact SUV will come with petrol- and diesel-powered 3- and 4-cylinder engines delivering 200 and 280 hp and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox or a nine-speed automatic. Sure enough, next will come a high-performance AMG version fitted with a 380-hp engine.

The GLB will be available with either front-wheel drive or the all-wheel drive layout.
