Bernie Ecclestone suspects that not all teams will be able to enter the 2015 season.
“We’ll know after the next two or three races,” said Bernie Ecclestone in his interview to The Guardian. “It’s always been on the cards that if we lose up to three teams then the other teams will run three cars. I think we should do it anyway. I would rather see Ferrari with three cars, or any of the other top teams with three cars than having teams that are struggling. I’ve been around — most people say too long — but long enough to know there are always people at the back of the grid. The major problem is that each of them plans to join in as soon as possible but in fact they can barely rake up some money for the next race”.
Four teams have the chances to tumble out of Formula 1: Lotus, Sauber, Marussia, and Caterham. Apparently, Bernie Ecclestone is not really concerned about his “children”. Most probably, Lotus and Sauber might find a way to hold out, while there are not many chances that Marussia and Caterham would be able to continue independently and on their own. Well, right now it’s difficult to imagine how the teams would survive the trial of merger and fighting over the drivers. Bernie is unlikely to get any support from the teams.
The final decision regarding the concept of the next season’s championship will be taken in the nearest future.
