Lexus engineers will not be able to create high-performance RX and NX SUVs as they lack the necessary characteristics.
“To have an F badge, the car needs to have the characteristics to be able to run on track and be a race car. Therefore, it doesn’t really suit to have a SUV with an F brand model. However, there may be F Sports in SUVs”, said the chief engineer of the F program in Lexus.
This leaves the Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG and Audi RS Q3 sports SUVs without a rival from Lexus.
On the other hand, the new NX F model has already been announced. It will feature modified aerodynamic elements, new interior trimming and revised suspension. The GS sedan fitted with a 5.0-litre V8 will also get an F badge.
