Pininfarina Sergio to hit production. Six production supercars, built as a tribute to the late president of the Italian company Sergio Pininfarina, have found their owners.
The Pininfarina Sergio concept car was revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Ferrari has announced that they will commission Pininfarina to produce 6 units in honour of Sergio Pininfarina, who passed away in 2012. Sergio was leading the company founded by his father Battista for 40 years and helped to create Ferrari 250 GT, F40 and 360, Alfa Romeo Spider, Maserati Quattroporte and Bentley Azure.
The Pininfarina Sergio prototype is based on the Ferrari 458 Italia. Under the bonnet, sits a 4.5-litre V8 delivering 570 hp mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its top speed is 320 km/h, it takes the car less than 3.4 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. Unlike the prototype, the production model will be fitted with a windshield and side windows.
However, the car will never go on public sale. WorldCarFans report that all six units have already found their owners, each of them paying more than €2 million for the right to own this unique sports car.
