Mercedes-Benz plan to upgrade the legendary G-Class off-road vehicle, which should enter production in 2017.
The company claims it to be not just a facelifted version but an almost all-new SUV, which will be revealed in 2016. It will be equipped with electronics, sensors and cameras, and an infotainment system. The company decided that the car should become more up-to-date.
What concerns the engine lineup, the new Geländewagen will be fitted with either 2.9- or 3.0-litre six-cylinder powerplants delivering 315 or 370 hp. More powerful versions carrying 4.0- and 5.5-litre eight-cylinder twin-turbo engines will also be available. The engineers are developing new suspension and modern electric power steering.
The car’s exterior will not suffer any drastic changes; however, its front part will be slightly modified. The new model will be equipped with LED headlights.
