New Toyota’s car will be cheaper than the GT86; however, the company claims it to be a real sports hatch. The new model is expected to appear on the market no sooner than 2018 and details are scant at this stage. Its prototype will be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show next year.
The model will likely be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine delivering just 132 hp. It will be offered in two transmission options — six-speed manual and automatic. The weight of the car will not exceed 980 kg. According to Motoring, the length of the new model is 3,995 mm, its width is 1,695 mm, and its height is 1,320 mm.
